The Nakano Quintuplets Arc (also referred to as the Introduction Arc) is the first story arc in 5Toubun no Hanayome series. The arc introduces the main characters Fuutarou and the Nakano Quintuplets.

Nakano Quintuplets Arc is covered in Volume 1 and the early part Volume 2.

Summary

The main protagonist of the series, Fuutarou Uesugi, is a poor & anti-social top student. One day, he gets a job tutoring a rich family that’s new to town. Fuutarou's soon-to-be students are revealed to be his new classmates, Itsuki Nakano, and her four quintuplet sisters. Despite the girls' poor first impression of Fuutarou, he tries seriously to do his job, only to find they have terrible grades and terribly complex personalities.

Story

This arc is about how Fuutarou meets the Nakano Quintuplets, learning of their circumstances, becoming their private tutor, and eventually marry one of them in the future.

Meeting the Nakano Quintuplets (Chapter 1)

Uesugi Fuutarou is a top student in high school. One day in the school cafeteria, he encounters a girl, whose name is Nakano Itsuki. Itsuki is a new transfer student and Fuutarou's new classmate, doing poorly in her study. When she knows that Fuutarou scores a full mark, she invites him to be her tutor and pay a visit to her house. However, Fuutarou finds that Itsuki lives with four girls — Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba.

Learning Their Circumstances (Chapter 2 - 4)

Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba are revealed to be quintuplets sisters, and Fuutarou's job is actually tutoring the five of them. When Fuutarou tried to measure the sisters' abilities, they score an exact 100 points if their points combined. Among the quintuplets, Miku, who is born in third, gets the highest mark.

One day, Fuutarou raised a Japanese history question to them. Miku knows the answer, responding to Fuutarou at the rooftop, where is in privacy. But her intention is misapprehended by Fuutarou as confession, and they have a discussion related to Japanese history, which is Miku's favorite topic. Their discussion reveal an important trivia which Fuutarou notices, that the Nakano Quintuplets is actually capable, but in their own subjects.

Becoming A Tutor (Chapter 5 - 6)

Fuutarou's newfound knowledge about Nakano Quintuplets made him eager to tutor them, but it also arouses the discontent of Nino. Fuutarou begins to do something to eliminate estrangement, but he accidentally pushes Nino down to avoid the danger. Itsuki happens to see the scene and takes the photo.

Due to the incident, the quintuplets discuss whether Fuutarou should be their tutor. Nino insists answering negative, while Miku defends Fuutarou. Eventually, all quintuplets except Nino forgive Fuutarou and indirectly accepts him as a tutor.
