5-toubun no Hanayome∽ (五等分の花嫁∽?. English: "The Quintessential Quintuplets∽") or the 5-toubun no Hanayome TV Special is a television special of the romantic-comedy anime series, 5-toubun no Hanayome, based on the manga series by Negi Haruba. The special is set to air in the summer of 2023 and will also have a limited three-week theatrical release starting from July 14, 2023 in Japan.[1]
It will adapt original manga chapters that were not previously covered in the anime series.
Synopsis[]
The final summer break is set to start as Fuutarou and the five sisters finish their last half year of high school. Fuutarou informed the five sisters that he had quit his work as a tutor during the summer break even though they had come together to study for exams. The five sisters unexpectedly got a call from Fuutarou as they were mired in despair over being unable to see Fuutarou.

The TV Special is directed by Yukiyasu Miyamoto, with Keiichiro Ochi responsible for the series composition. The animation is being produced by Shaft.[2]
The cast of the TV Special includes Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Fuutarou Uesugi, Kana Hanazawa as Ichika Nakano, Ayana Taketatsu as Nino Nakano, Miku Itou as Miku Nakano, Ayane Sakura as Yotsuba Nakano, and Inori Minase as Itsuki Nakano.
Music[]
The opening and ending themes for the TV Special, "5-toubun no Mirai" and "Takaramono" respectively, will be performed by the Nakanoke no Itsuzugo, a group composed of the five female lead cast. A CD featuring these theme songs, along with other tracks like "Sekaijuu Tatta Hitotsu" and "Watashi no Hero" from the third 5-toubun no Hanayome game, will be released on July 12, 2023.[3]
Background[]
5-toubun no Hanayome follows the story of Fuutarou Uesugi, a high school student living in poverty, who becomes the tutor of the quintuplets from the wealthy Nakano family. Each sister has a unique personality, and Fuutarou's job is to guide them to graduation. The manga ran from August 2017 to February 2020 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine and has a cumulative circulation of over 20 million volumes8.
The first season of the TV anime adaptation aired from January to March 2019, and the second season, titled "5-toubun no Hanayome ∫∫", aired from January to March 2021. A theatrical anime movie was released in May 2022 and was a hit, earning about 2.24 billion yen in box office revenue and attracting approximately 1.7 million viewers.
As we approach the premiere of the 5-toubun no Hanayome TV Special, fans eagerly anticipate this new chapter in the story of Fuutarou and the Nakano sisters.
